We pursue this objective within a safe, fun yet, rigorous learning environment that nurtures and promotes critical thinking skills.
BCCS is one of 150+ NYC DOE schools granted P.R.O.S.E. status. P.R.O.S.E. is the acronym for Progressive Redesign Opportunity for Schools of Excellence. Through P.R.O.S.E., BCCS strengthens parent engagement, student enrichment programming, teacher and administration professional development, and continues to implement innovative curriculum strategies.
Brighter Choice Community School is located in the heart of Brooklyn District 16, Bedford-Stuyvesant.
Founded twelve years ago by District 16 Deputy Superintendent, Fabayo McIntosh-Gordon, and currently led by Principal Jeremy K. Daniel, Brighter Choice Community School is a shining example of Spanish Dual language progressive education.

I love the programs the school has offered, from Bilingual Birdies to Edible School Yard and the dance program, Ifetayo. “We feel fortunate to be part of Brighter Choice Community school particularly during this time of such uncertainty and distress. It feels comforting and reassuring to be part of a school where the principal is just a phone call away, where the staff works as a team to respond to the needs of the entire school community and the teachers address the needs of the whole child. My family has been particularly impressed with how the school transitioned to remote learning and has not shied away from the tough issues we are facing as a society today. In the days following George Floyd’s murder, Evelyse’s pre-k teacher at the time, scheduled a zoom meeting to talk about racism.
She did so in a child-sensitive way, and in a way that motivated us all as a family to stand up to injustice. Evelyse went on to participate in a BLM protest and attend the Juneteenth event that the school held in its own backyard. These experiences to us fulfill the true goal of education. As Dr. King pointedly said, “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education.” Brighter Choice is paving the way for schools that embrace this thought, and Evelyse gets to be a part of it all…What a joy!”
